The Brief

Our client is a specialised industrial service provider offering a wide range of engineering components and technical services and customisation solutions to all areas of industry. As part of an ongoing recruitment relationship, we were engaged to discover a head of PMO to join the organisation on a permanent basis to lead business change and transformation. The client was seeking a driven and motivated individual who would be responsible for the central management of project work, and as such would also require significant experience within businesses undergoing transformation. As well as a cultural fit, the chosen candidate would also need to be a skilled communicator capable of dealing with multiple stakeholders. Having previously placed 84 roles for the client through our sister company Gleeson Recruitment Group, the client decided to partner with us due to our in-depth understanding of their business requirements as well as our specialism within PMO.

Ryan worked closely with key stakeholders within the business in order to develop a holistic understanding of the specific requirements of the role, and the function it would play within wider strategic objectives. Our dedicated research team utilised this information in order to identify and headhunt candidates with the prerequisite skillset – a challenge for a niche role within a buoyant market. We also leveraged LinkedIn Recruiter in order to conduct a tailored search and advertising campaign. Within two weeks, Ryan had compiled a longlist of eight strong candidates, which was narrowed down to four after thorough pre-screening. Once the shortlist had been submitted, three of the four candidates attended a first-stage competency-based interview, which was followed by a presentation to the executive team and a further informal meeting with key business stakeholders. Ryan provided each candidate with a full interview preparation brief, and followed up with regular and consistent feedback following each stage. Once an offer was made, Ryan assisted in salary negotiations, and managed the selected candidate’s expectations from offer to acceptance.
The Outcome

Despite an extremely challenging brief, the role was successfully recruited within eight weeks of the brief being finalised. The candidate has since settled successfully within the business, where she has begun to make a significant impact. We have since maintained regular contact through check-in calls with both the client and the candidate, both of whom are delighted with the result of the process and have delivered positive feedback. Having strengthened our existing relationship with the business and opened the door to working on further projects within the transformation space, we look forward to continuing to support our client with their recruitment requirements.
