The Brief

The board of a leading data company had recently agreed to appoint a well-known management consultancy to deliver a global ERP rollout in over 50 countries. In order to ensure a smooth integration, the decision was made to hire a Global Finance Integration Lead. They were seeking an individual to sit between the management consultancy and the finance teams in each country to make sure beneficial processes were agreed upon and implemented, and the benefits of the new system were realised. Effectively, the successful candidate would become the project lead for finance, championing the global finance function and managing the relationship with the third party.

Initially, the client asked me to review the market and send through a long list of candidates operating at different levels. This was invaluable as it allowed the client to moved forward with certainty regarding budget versus skillset. To deliver the long list, our team utilised both their personal networks and the strong historic network of GRG Executive Search. Our team also carried out a tailored LinkedIn search and advertising campaign, which was run on a private and confidential basis. From a long listing perspective, we then identified the shortlist and underwent the referencing process. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the full process was hosted through Microsoft Teams, which spanned all contact, from the original briefing with the client to candidate meetings, interviews and feedback sessions.
The Outcome

Through the longlisting process, I introduced a candidate who was a known entity to our business. Not only had I demonstrated that operationally and from a budgetary perspective, the candidate was working at the correct level, but I could also effectively reference the candidate throughout their career, further underpinning the client’s confidence in the hire and process. We pride ourselves on building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with our clients and candidates. To this end, we have maintained weekly contact with the candidate and aim to keep in touch with the client on a monthly basis. We have also successfully recruited for additional roles within the business since this placement.
