Head of Business Development

GRG Executive Search has been retained by a market-leading organisation to recruit a Head of Business Development.

My client is a VC-backed training provider with exciting, well-structured, growth plans.

The Head of Business Development will report directly into Managing Director, forming part of the Senior Leadership Team. The role will focus on both new business opportunities and developing existing accounts; the role will therefore require a strong commercial leader focused on both existing relationships and further growth opportunities.

My client operates across both the public and private sectors, and therefore experience in both arenas would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commercial mindset, excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence. The role will be focused on three core areas:
New business development
Management, coaching and leadership
Sales process management – methodology, efficiency and technology

The role will encompass:

  • Manage and lead the Business Development Team to business success and be responsible for achieving sales revenue targets
  • Negotiate and structure long-term agreements with clients
  • Develop and present new business development strategies to the Leadership team
  • Create and maintain a positive culture that attracts, retains and motivates top quality team members

The ideal candidate for this Head of Business Development role will possess the following skills/expertise:

  • Extensive experience of working in a senior sales management role in an commercial sales environment
  • Experience of managing a varied portfolio combining near and long term opportunities at multiple scale
  • Demonstrable track record of major or strategic account planning, having generated incremental revenues in deal sizes above £1m ACV and TCV of £10m
  • Demonstrable track record of consistently meetings sales targets achievement over £5m pa
  • A proactive solution focused hands on approach to overcome any problems, issues or challenges faced in the role
  • Extensive management and coaching experience.
