As pioneers in manufacturing excellence and sustainability the business target is to more than triple revenue from 2020 as soon as 2023. The Role

This is a new Director of Finance and Operations opportunity, working for a growing SME in West Norfolk, created to support the business growth ambitions. As an established business with a solid reputation, they are now looking to build the next phase of its development, and this is a new Director appointment to lead the Finance, Operation and Administration functions. This executive position will report directly to the Managing Director and is key to the strategic planning and direction of the organisation. You will be a trusted strategic business partner to the MD to help drive the growth of the business. This is a great opportunity to join the senior leadership team and to develop your skills and experience at board level.

Together with the rest of the board, will have a pivotal role in shaping the future success of the business. You will play an essential role, not only in the financial management of the business, but also in other operational and commercial aspects. You will be involved in the day-to-day management of the company and the formulation and implementation of the overall strategic long term business plan. You will have full P&L and balance sheet responsibility and play a critical role in the provision of financial direction and support for all business operations.

You will need to become a trusted member of an already strong management team and will be expected to challenge performance proactively and effectively, and to actively assist the MD and the owners to improve overall business performance. You will need to support the achievement of operational and commercial objectives, to contribute to the overall and long-term profitability of the company. This will include the provision of financial and operational data to support decision making and working closely with the rest of the Board and Senior Leadership Team.

You will need to ensure sound financial and commercial management, including budgeting, forecasting and cash flow forecasting. You will also have responsibility for overall financial control and be expected to ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.

You will be responsible for leading Finance, as well as overseeing other operational areas of the business including IT, Procurement and HR and will be a key member of the leadership team helping to lead and deliver change activities required in the business plan.

Candidate Profile

For this Director of Finance and Operations opportunity in West Norfolk, candidates must be qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant post qualification experience, ideally with experience of working at an FD level and being part of an operating board. Leading the finance function in a growing SME would also be highly desirable. This role would suit someone who can think strategically, whilst also being willing to roll their sleeves up and get into the detail when needed.

They are open to considering candidates looking to make that first step up into a Director of Finance position and will consider experienced finance candidates making the transition from a corporate to an SME, with the opportunity to affect real change and to contribute to the direction of the company.

Manufacturing industry experience is essential and lean management and Hoshin planning would be considered advantageous.

Candidates must be technically minded, with relevant commercial experience, and the ability to contribute to strategic discussions.

A thorough understanding of IT infrastructure and a knowledge of modern ERP systems will be important.

Project finance experience would be highly desirable.

Contract negotiation and supplier experience would also be preferred.

Must possess first class leadership skills and whilst the focus of the role will be finance, a previous leadership role with oversight of other support functions (Purchasing, IT and HR) would be desirable.
